Noisebazooka Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

Well, at the moment we are recording new songs for our upcoming full length album “salmir”. Beside of this we are organizing a split with canadian mince-grinders ARCHAGATHUS, which will probaby be released around November 2015. The six songs for this split are already recorded, the layout and artwork finished, so we are just waiting for the songs from split-partner. Then, this split also available at EveryDayHate.

2.How would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recordings?

NOISEBAZOOKA stands for an aggressive, fast and weird style of sound. In general it’s a mix of old school grindcore and electronic sound.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

Since NOISEBAZOOKA was found in late 2005, the topics and subjects the band explores, are all deeply rooted in philosophy, individual misunderstanding, cognition, perception, popular culture, dystopia, and theories.

4.the band formed out of the ashes of 'Monolith', what was the decision behind the break up of that band and starting this one?

MONOLITH, a vienna based jazz-oriented grindcore band, was formed around 1996 and the performed a lot of gigs in Austria and central Europe. Nevertheless, in 2005 they decided to quit. Afterwards, Almir, the guitarist of MONOLITH, formed together with Salmi (vocalist) and Martin (drum-technics) the short-lived project RHIZOMNIA (only the song “retriprocity” off NOISEBAZOOKA’s album “woolgathering urban antipodeans” [2008]). After the break-up of RHIZOMNIA, Almir and Salmi formed NOISEBAZOOKA in November 2005.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Noisebazooka'?

It was mainly Almirs idea to use the term NOISEBAZOOKA, because it fits to our idea of creating NOISEBAZOOKA-music.

6.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you planning on expanding the line up in the future or do you chose to remain a duo?

We are not planning to expand the current line-up (Almir: guitars/drumtechnics/bass, Salmi: vocals/lyrics), but we get technical support from other musicians, especially Martin (ex-RHIZOMNIA, ex-NECROGRIND [Austria]) and Kimon (ex-MONOLITH).

7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

NOISEBAZOOKA stands for a shredding and blistering guitar, non-pitchshifted vocals and screams, and insane fast drumcomputer-blasts. NOISEBAZOOKA constructs harsh, cold and ultra "destructured" atmospheres that turn your brain into pieces. NOISEBAZOOKA's live performances remind someone of hyperactive and insane breakdowns. NOISEBAZOOKA sets definitely free the essential energy of grindcore.

8.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

Due to our families and jobs, touring won’t be possible, but we prefer shows as supporting act in small venues in Vienna (Austria), Brno (Czech Republic) and Bratislava (Slovakia).

9.Recently you where a part of a split with 'Horsebastard', what are your thoughts on the other band that had participated on the recording?

For me, Salmi, HORSEBASTARD is one main inspiration for our music. I discovered their music by chance at youtube, I was fascinated and so I contacted HORSEBASTARD to do this split.

10.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of grindcore?

We got, so far, mixed reviews. Nobody dares to say NOISEBAZOOKA is simply ok, some hate our sound and/or style others love our sound/style.

11.When can we expect another full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

In the end of 2015 one can expect our 3rd full length album called “salmir” with more than 40 songs. Then, available at EveryDayHate.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Our basic influence has not changed since the founding of NOISEBAZOOKA in late 2005: AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED, BRUTAL TRUTH, old NAPALM DEATH, DISCORDANCE AXIS and YACØPSÆ.

13.What are some of your non musical interests?

We, both members of NOISEBAZOOKA, share the common interests: reading books, science, weird science fiction movies, and family.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Grindcore is art! Thanks to Andy/EveryDayHate and to all fans of NOISEBAZOOKA.

My playlist at the moment: G.O.D. – body horror, PLUTOCRACY – dankstahz, ARCHAGATHUS – dehumanizer, TERRORIZER – world downfall, MODORRA – solar anus.
